DESIGN AS A WAY OF THINKING.

For Akewit, design has never been simply about how things look. It is a way of understanding what makes a brand distinctive—and translating that understanding into ideas, identities and experiences people can connect with.

Awarded a scholarship to pursue his Master’s degree at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Georgia, USA, Akewit went on to begin his design career at Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis. Working on brands including American Standard and Porsche shaped an enduring belief: the strongest brands begin with authentic stories people care about.

Returning to Bangkok, Akewit founded CASESTUDY in 2009. His work has since received international recognition from PRINT, Communication Arts, AIGA Minnesota and the Good Design Award (G Mark), Japan.

DESIGN IS A STRATEGIC TOOL.

Akewit believes design is one of the most powerful tools a company can use to build a brand. His work begins by identifying what makes an organization different—its personality, purpose and point of view—then translating those qualities into a clear and distinctive visual language.

For him, every expression of a brand is an opportunity to communicate. A logo can become an idea. An object can become a message. An experience can become a memory.

This thinking continues to shape CASESTUDY today: challenging conventions, moving between strategy and creativity, and using design not simply to make brands look different, but to make a difference.

Akewit lives in urban Bangkok with his wife, Palm, and his 14-year-old daughter, Pippi.
